FAQs
How much will my prescription glasses cost?
The price will vary depending which lens style you choose and whether your prescription is for single vision or varifocal lenses. The best thing to do is to contact us for a quick quote:
How do I order a trial pack?
The best way is to call us so we can explain how the pack works and we can get it all arranged for you. +447553565140
Do I need to take the pack to my optician?
No, that’s not necessary; the pack enables us to work with you directly.
Do I need to have a prescription?
Yes, you will need an up to date prescription. We can discuss your prescription when you call us to arrange the pack.
What’s inside the pack?
The pack contains 5 Bigatmo frames for you to try on. This enables you to choose the perfect frame for you. There are also instructions about taking a photo of yourself in your chosen frame. The photo enables us to take measurements we require to process your prescription order. We are very happy to chat you through this process on the phone or via email.
How do I know which style of lens to choose?
We can give you advice on the lenses and we can pop a trial lens or two inside the pack for you.
How long do I have before I have to return the pack?
We like the pack to be returned to us within 14 days. But we know life can get very busy and many of our customers are travelling, for this reason we ask to be contacted if prior to the end of the 14 days you need extra time.
Do I have to pay for the pack?
The pack has high value, therefore we take a payment of £75 which is refundable once the pack has been returned to us and we have confirmed the frames are undamaged. If however you place an order, then this payment is taken into account as part of your overall payment. In any case the pack must be returned and the frames must be undamaged.
What do I do once I’ve chosen my frames and taken the photo?
Wait for us to contact you. We need to make sure we can get the data we need from the photographs you have sent to us.

What about courier delivery services?
We recognise that some of our customers might not want to rely on their local postal services and so, for most international destinations, there is a courier option. Our preferred providers are DHL and Fedex (for the USA), although we sometimes use others.
As a general rule, only consider this option if you don’t have faith in your local delivery service, as you will need to pay for courier services. You will have an opportunity to check the price with a real time, online quote during the checkout process.
We’ll keep you up to date with the progress of your order and provide you with tracking information as soon as it’s available.
Be advised that courier services are not available to individuals in Russia. So, unless you can ship to a registered business, always use the Royal Mail option.
In some parts of the world, it is common for people to use specialist courier companies that group a number of items into a single shipment. If you wish to use this kind of service and it has UK representation, please get in touch. ([email protected] or +441622844030) The courier service will need to be highly rated and also prepared to sign for the Special Delivery package. Our obligations will be complete when the package has been successfully delivered to the specialist courier company.
Duty and Taxes
When we ship to destinations outside the scope of mandatory taxation agreements, all pricing is tax free and you will be responsible for paying any VAT/Duty/disbursements that might be incurred during the process of importation.

Shipping to the EU
Yes, we ship pretty much everywhere! Since the beginning of 2021 there have been a number of changes to the way we send packages to the EU. Here is a brief summary to let you know how we are now sending packages to you, in the EU, and how this might affect your shopping experience. Below that, we’ve added some extra information which we hope will fill in the background and give you an insight of what we’d like to do in order to improve EU shipping in the future.
In the past it didn’t matter whether you resided in the UK or any of the other EU states, we just charged VAT during checkout, shipped the package and sent you a tracking number. We offered free shipping, or you could choose a courier service if you preferred and we charged you at a preferential rate.
Now, we will not charge VAT during checkout and so your order will be shipped tax free. We still offer free shipping on all orders over £100.00, using the best service available via Royal Mail, in combination will your national mail service. We will always use a tracked mail service except in the rare cases where it isn’t available. We will ship the package with all the necessary customs documentation.
The UK is the country of origin for Bigatmo sunglasses and so there is no duty payable when they
are imported into an EU state. VAT, however, is payable on import and your mail service will contact you to collect it. The process of collecting the VAT may well attract an additional charge called disbursement. It appears that
this fee is about EUR 10.00 but can vary. Your package is then released and delivered to you. Hooray.
Is it possible to ship to the EU using courier services? Yes, it is! Feedback from our logistics company has shown that the courier companies have had numerous problems and so we have decided to remove the auto quote system on our ecommerce platform, for EU sales. In addition, the courier companies are applying a number of surcharges (fuel, Covid and especially Brexit) that we find rather irksome. So, although we subsidise the price of using a courier, we feel that the extra cost does not necessarily result in a speedier or more hassle-free experience. If you need to ship to an area where you feel that a courier offers real benefits, please send us a message so that we can quote and ship to you without delay.

Some more information:
Our ambition is to offer you a similar service to the one that we used to experience prior to 2021. In order to achieve this, we need to ship DDP which means Delivered Duty Paid. Under this scheme we would, once again, charge VAT at checkout. The tracked package is then sent to you and should arrive without delay, hoorah, and we arrange payment of the VAT.
Currently, it’s not clear how to operate this system in a cost effective and efficient way. Also, in July 2021 EU rules around ecommerce and VAT collection are changing and this might simplify the process. At the moment, there are varying interpretations of the rules and we’re waiting for some uniformity before completing our arrangements.
Items shipped to the EU arrive via Ports of Entry and obviously they all need to apply the rules correctly and uniformly. Unfortunately, there is plenty of evidence to show that this hasn’t always been the case, although we would expect these teething problems to reduce fairly quickly.
